Book Review – The Witches of Eastwick

The Witches of EastwickThe Witches of Eastwick by John Updike
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I liked this book, but I didn’t love it. I wanted to love it. Updike has a fantastic way of stringing words together that conjure gorgeous mental pictures. If you love beautiful mental imagery, its likely you’ll love this book.

The story has some dated concepts, but that’s to be expected since it’s been around a while. My greatest issues with the book are that I had a hard time developing feelings for the characters, and the ending left me disappointed. I also found it difficult to slog through some of his long paragraphs–and there were a LOT of overly long paragraphs.

Overall a good read, though.
